Free and unlimited publishing of Open Access articles (hereinafter “OA”) for corresponding authors from institutions that are members of the CzechELib consortium:
- Charles University and its affiliated hospitals:
- Bulovka University Hospital
- General University Hospital in Prague
- Motol University Hospital
- Thomayer University Hospital
- University Hospital Hradec Králové
- University Hospital in Pilsen
- University Hospital Kralovske Vinohrady
- Masarykova univerzita
Eligible journals: fully OA titles and hybrid titles.
Publication types: Original Paper, Review, Brief Communication, Correction.
Contract duration: 1 January 2023 - 31 December 2027
How does an author publish an Open Access article?
When submitting a manuscript:

Select the correct name of your institution (must be one of the above).

The corresponding author should use an institutional email (Domains are listed as part of the transformation agreement: muni.cz; cuni.cz; fnmotol.cz; vfn.cz; fnplzen.cz; fnhk.cz; fnkv.cz; ftn.cz; bulovka.cz). The system should also correctly recognize subdomains). Alternatively, the publisher can use ORCID or the affiliation specified by the author to identify eligibility to publish free of charge in the OA mode.
After the article is accepted for publication:
- The corresponding author will receive an email with a link to the Chronoshub account (Log in to MyKarger).
- In the main panel, go to the "Accepted" section. All articles requiring action will be marked.

- Click on "Select publishing option".
- You will be given the choice of:

- After selecting the Open Access option, you will be shown information about the transformation agreement between your institution and the publisher.
- Select Accept Waiver:

- Continue to fill out the form
Opt-out: Authors can opt for an exception and instead publish their article traditionally (paid access, behind a paywall).
